General Competition Rules 2024
The New York Franz Liszt International Piano Competition invites pianists of any age to compete in a single category.
The competition preliminary round will be held entirely online in 2024. Contestants are required to submit a 30-minute video. The video must be strictly without any edits, recorded from one angle from the right side of the keyboard.
The video can be put together from multiple recordings for different pieces, but the pieces themselves cannot be edited.
We also don't accept multi-camera recordings.
The competition's aim is to celebrate Franz Liszt's heritage and to spotlight those exceptional talents chosen to perform at one of the world's most prestigious venues.
The repertoire for the competition's solo round offers a free program, which must include one work by Franz Liszt.
After listening to the pre-recorded videos, the jury will select four finalists, who will perform two events, a solo final in New York City on October 4 and the orchestra final on October 6 at Stern Auditorium Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall on October 6 2024.
All finalists will be playing their 30 minute pre-recorded video repertoire live at the solo final in New York City, additionally, they will be performing a Liszt Piano Concerto of their choice at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium Perelman Stage on October 6, 2024.
